It is almost time to think about the next summer holidays. Those lucky enough to organize a holiday to discover the beauties of the Amalfi Coast need to organize every single stage in detail to optimize time and to full enjoy every moment of the trip. Among the unmissable destinations, there are, obviously, the beaches.
The beaches of the Amalfi Coast are all places full of charm. Not surprisingly, thousands of tourists from all over the world choose to go there every year. But, which are the most beautiful beaches to see at least once in your life? And how can you easily reach them even in high season? We will reveal it in the next paragraphs!
Here is our selection of the most beautiful beaches of the Amalfi Coast, the same ones we usually suggest to all the tourists coming to us.
There are beaches for all tastes: for sports lovers, for families with children or for couples looking for romantic locations. You just have to choose the one that suits you best!
Among the most beautiful and renowned beaches of the Amalfi coast there is the Duoglio beach of Amalfi, chosen above all for its clear and always clean sea.
Il Duoglio is not far from the city center and is accessible from a staircase of 400 steps. The beach is loved by everyone, but especially by sports lovers: Lido degli Artisti, one of the establishments on the beach, gives the possibility to rent equipment to enjoy the main water sports. Those who do not want to miss the pleasure of a good lunch on the sea, can book a table at the small restaurant that offers dishes and street food based on fresh fish.
If you are in search of peace and privacy, we recommend one of the lesser known and wilder beaches of the Amalfi Coast. This is Castiglione, located in a hamlet of Ravello.
It is accessed from the state road. The beach is not very large and is located in the middle of a cliff. While bathing in its waters, it is possible to admire from afar and at the same time the elegance of the profile of Atrani, not far away, and the richness of the surrounding vegetation.
Among the beaches in the area, it is the less suitable for children because it remains in the shade for most of the day and because the sea is immediately deep.
As we told you in our article on the most beautiful villages of the Amalfi Coast, Atrani is one of the most characteristic and unmissable places. Not surprisingly, it is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and its beach is unanimously recognized as one of the most evocative. Especially thanks to the view of the perched village that can be admired while sunbathing.
Thanks to the many services available and the easy access, the beach of Atrani is extremely comfortable for families. During the high season, it is advisable to reach it early in the morning to easily find a place at the nearest parking lot.
Among the beaches of the Amalfi Coast, the Marina di Cetara is one of the most scenic and suggestive. The setting is perfect for romantics: the blue waters of the sea, a clear expanse of sand and gravel, and the pastel-coloured houses of the fishermen on the background. From the small beach it is even possible to see the marvellous Torre dei Saraceni. In summer, the beach is equipped with a small bathing establishment with a refreshment point.
If you want to spend your day in a quiet and almost isolated beach, you have to reach the tiny village of Erchie. You can only get to the town center on foot (so you will have to leave your vehicle in one of the external car parks), and from there you can access the small beach. The beach is located in a bay characterized by transparent waters and very fine sand. The beach is partly free access and partly occupied by beaches. A short distance away you can find the tiny beach of Cauco, which can only be reached by sea.
Maiori is one of the smallest towns in the region, yet it is home to one of the longest and most popular beaches on the Amalfi Coast. The beach of Maiori is a stretch of fine sand of about one kilometre, on which there are several bathing establishments suitable for all budgets and complete with every kind of service and comfort. If you prefer a free access beach instead of a lido you will still be certainly satisfied. Along the coast there are hotels and restaurants where you can stop and taste the excellent specialties of the area with a splendid view of the sea.
Would you like to spend a VIP day during your summer trip to the Amalfi Coast? Then you absolutely must reach Marina Grande in Positano, for a luxurious sea and sun bath! The Marina Grande beach is one of the most famous in the region; not surprisingly, it is extremely popular between movie stars and famous international personalities who choose it every year for its clear waters, the convenience of services and the exclusive clubs that animate the coast. As other beaches on the Amalfi Coast, even in Marina Grande you can choose between establishments and free access spots.
Among the beaches of the Amalfi Coast here is one of the oldest ones. It is known, in fact, that the Bay of Nerano, also known as the beach of Marina di Cantone, was the favourite in Roman times. It is not difficult to guess why: the beach is a beautiful, even if not too large, and made of sand and pebbles. It is very popular with snorkelers who particularly appreciate the fauna of its seabed, but it is also a place suitable for families: the Bay of Nerano is equipped with all the facilities and very well served. Furthermore, you will have the possibility to have an unforgettable lunch on the sea by choosing one of the several famous restaurants located in the bay.
We have already talked about this paradisiacal beach, which can be accessed by sea or from the state road that runs along the coast, in a previous post.
The Fiordo di Furore, the inlet created by the rocky cliffs of the coast that descend to the sea, is one of the most beautiful and scenic places on the Amalfi Coast. The beach is very small, so it is not easy to find a place in the high season. Furthermore, for most of the day, the beach of Furore remains in the shade: therefore, if you love sunbathing, we recommend you to reach it at the end of the morning.
In Vietri sul Mare you will find a beautiful sandy and pebble beach washed by turquoise waters. This is Crestarella, a not too large beach , where we suggest you to go very early in the morning. In fact, being private and occupied by an establishment that offers about 70 umbrellas, it is quite coveted by tourists. In fact, Crestarella fills up easily, even if the rates for renting a sunbed and an umbrella or for having lunch at the restaurant on the beach are not very cheap.
As you can imagine, in high season, the beautiful beaches of the Amalfi Coast are full of tourists all day long. It follows that it is not always easy to find parking for your car and that you often have to queue up in traffic.
For this reason, if you are thinking about a trip on the Amalfi Coast, especially in the months of July and August, we suggest renting a scooter to move quickly and without stress between the main towns in the area.
In fact, the scooter allows a great freedom of movement even during peak times and in the most crowded centres.
Riding two wheels it becomes even easier to reach the most isolated and solitary beaches. Not surprisingly, among the most beautiful itineraries to travel on a scooter on the Amalfi Coast we have indicated an “on the road” among the most deserving beaches in the area.
If you are interested in knowing how the scooter rental service on the Amalfi Coast works, how to book the vehicle that best suits your needs and what are the best rates on the market, we invite you to have a look at the page dedicated to the service on the Sorrento Trips website.
