Maronti beach

Maronti beach is a stretch of sand about 3 kilometers long that rises in the municipality of Barano d’Ischia (even if a small part is in the municipality of Serrara Fontana). Set between the mountains and an intense blue sea, this beach can be reached via a panoramic road that descends from the village of Barano – you will be enchanted by the spectacle that will open up to your eyes – but also by sea, with the taxi boats departing from the beach of Sant’Angelo. On this beach, moreover, it is possible to see the phenomenon of fumaroles (going towards Sant’Angelo) due to the volcanic activity of the island.

Bay of San Montano

In the municipality of Lacco Ameno, on the other hand, there is the Bay of San Montano, characterized by fine sand and a shallow seabed and crystal-clear water. It is an equipped beach which, thanks to the shallow waters, is ideal for families with children. In this bay there is also the Negombo thermal park, one of the most famous on the island, characterized by several pools of thermal water: in short, an oasis of nature and relaxation!

Bay of Citara

Moving towards the town of Forio, however, you will find the Bay of Citara, another of the beaches of Ischia that we recommend, characterized by soft sand. You will find bathing establishments that offer comfortable sun beds and umbrellas, and also a restaurant service, or you can settle down on the free beach.

Beach of Cava dell’Isola

A few hundred meters from the Citara beach we find Cava dell’Isola, characterized by a wilder atmosphere than other beaches. It is a free area, popular with young people or those who love to play beach volley. Furthermore, being kissed by the sun for most of the day, it is an ideal destination for sunbathing enthusiasts

Bay of Sorgeto

More than a beach, we could talk about an outdoor thermal park: the bay of Sorgeto (located in the municipality of Forio) is in fact an inlet where the very hot thermal water mixes with the cooler marine one, giving pleasure sublime of a relaxing bath. For this reason, it is certainly one of the beaches of Ischia not to be missed.Access is free, even if there is a bathhouse. The bay can be reached by sea or from the hamlet of Panza, by going down a staircase of over 200 steps. Being rich in rocks, pebbles, and rocks (it is therefore not the classic beach with sand) it is advisable to wear non-slip sandals.

Chiaia beach

Always in the municipality of Forio there is Spiaggia della Chiaia, long, sandy and with a shallow seabed. Particularly suitable for families with children, it has bathing establishments equipped with bars and restaurants, but also offers free areas where you can settle down to sunbathe.

Fishermen’s Beach

Fishermen’s Beach is also one of the beaches of Ischia particularly suitable for families with children. Located a few steps from the village of Ischia Ponte, it is characterized by a soft fine sand and is immersed in a unique landscape, with the suggestive Aragonese Castle on the right. Here too you will find both equipped establishments and stretches of free beach.

San Francesco beach

A few kilometres from the town of Forio it is possible to find the beach of San Francesco. Framed, on the right, by the promontory of Punta Caruso, it is an ideal place for those who love water sports.

Scarrupata

The Scarrupata of Barano d’Ischia is a bay that can be reached by sea or through a path, at times a little rough. However, it is worth the effort because, you will find yourself in front of a breath-taking spectacle. It is, in fact, a small beach with a rather wild appearance, made up of large pebbles smoothed by the waves of a crystalline sea: a corner of paradise isolated from the world, where you can immerse yourself in nature.

Sant’Angelo beach

Sant’Angelo, located in the municipality of Serrara Fontana, is one of the most evocative corners of Ischia. It is an ancient fishing village, a sort of “island within the island” with characteristic alleys and colorful houses. Sant’Angelo beach is a small patch of soft sand, equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, with shallow waters.

Cava Ruffano

Cava Ruffano is a small beach immersed in the Mediterranean scrub that always rises in the municipality of Serrara Fontana, near Borgo Sant’Angelo: a quiet place, protected by rocky spurs, characterized by coarse-grained sand and crystalline waters with emerald shades.

Convento beach

Another popular beach – even if you have to go down about 50 steps to get there – is Spiaggia del Convento, located in Casamicciola Terme.

This small beach owes its name to the convent of the Passionist Fathers in front of which it is located, and has fine sand and shallow waters: the opposite cliff, in particular, has caused a small bay to be formed that allows you to touch for several meters.

Spiaggia del Fungo

Another area in which to spend a nice day at the beach with the family is Spiaggia del Fungo, in the municipality of Lacco Armeno. The beach owes its name to a rock that rises in front of the beach: as a result of erosion, in fact, the latter has acquired the shape similar to that of a mushroom. Here too you will find shallow waters and fine sand.

Cartaromana beach

Among the beaches of Ischia that are worth visiting, although it is not very extensive, we also mention that of Cartaromana which offers a splendid view of the Aragonese Castle.
